perrys victory visitor center

The Perry’s Victory Visitor Center and Perry’s Victory & International Peace Memorial open daily from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Stop by and go to the top for the best view of the Lake Erie islands and on a good day, you can even see Canada! This is one of the best photo opportunities on the island.

The Visitors Center offers a free display of artifacts and information about the history behind Perry’s Monument. There is a large glass window with Admiral Perry in front of it to view the Monument from the Visitors Center.

Teachers and schools often bring their students to Put-in-Bay for historical visits. Perry’s Victory Memorial plays a big part in one of the educational experiences of a lifetime for many students. Park Rangers often offer free ranger-led activities for organized school and youth groups. Please contact them for specific information about the programs and to schedule a ranger program (preferably at least two weeks in advance of the planned field trip).

Staying overnight at a Put-in-Bay rental home, waterfront condo, or downtown Put-in-Bay hotel is a great way to enjoy more of your island time.

A Short and Sweet History of Perry’s Victory Visitor Center

Oliver Hazard Perry’s victory on September 10, 1813 will be remembered forever. There is a 352 foot high Perry’s Victory and International Peace Memorial honoring the hard-fought victory against the British. The Doric column was constructed for the centennial celebration around 1913 and 1916 and is located in the heart of Put-in-Bay. Lying beneath the floor of the rotunda, are three British and three American officers that were killed during the battle.
